If I’m not mistaken, I changed some settings in the game and then at the beginning of the game, it started giving this error. I had a previous save where I had advanced relatively in the story.

There are a variety of bugs in the Mass Effect Franchise, one of which is the DirectX Error, and it has become a nuisance for people.

You were forced to kill the game through the task manager because of a DirectX rendering error due to a lack of memory, as the error message indicated. A Windows warning pop-up would often appear informing you that you were running low on memory and you should close the following programs in order to prevent data loss.

While Mass Effect: Andromeda is a fantastic space exploration game, it is still having issues launching for many fans. A DirectX error appears on the screen when they press the “play” button: “DirectX could not create a buffer” or “Direct3D was unable to allocate enough memory”.

EA and BioWare’s Mass Effect: Andromeda is just a few weeks away from launch. This weekend the game reached a number of development milestones; it went gold, the PC minimum and recommended specs were published, and we hear the game will launch on EA Access and Origin Access five days earlier than the scheduled general availability on 21st March. In the last week or so EA has also uploaded quite a few new videos showcasing gameplay and features so it’s worth a glance through the official YouTube playlist if you are at all interested.

What is the cause of the DirectX error in Mass Effect Andromeda

What is the cause of the DirectX error in Mass Effect Andromeda

This means you’re going to run into some serious issues when trying to play Mass Effect Andromeda on PC. But before we dive into the specs, here’s what you need to know:

There has been debate concerning the efficacy of lowering graphics settings on high-performance settings. While some users have found this solution helpful, others have been unable to do so.

It hasn’t crashed yet, just freezes and you have to kill the task in the task manager if you don’t have that enabled. I haven’t disabled them, can you tell me where to find that option and i will look. All I’ve seen is the DirectX error and the game CTD.

There is also the possibility that this error could occur due to memory issues. The game may not get its share of memory if there are background processes requiring lots of memory in the background.

It would be much appreciated if anyone could help me, as I am a layman in this area.

Using multiple monitors, overclocking, and unsupported graphics drivers can also cause this error code.

How to fix the DirectX Error in Mass Effect Andromeda

Update or reinstall your video card driver

Often, the current driver doesn’t work well with a game, but the new driver fixes all the problems. You never know if a driver update will ruin it or fix it. Users may have to go back to old drivers if they have problems with the game after installing the latest driver.

  1. You can open the Device Manager by clicking on the first entry in the list of available results under the “Start” menu on the lower left of the screen.
  2. If you want to run it using the “Run” dialog box, press Windows + R and type “devmgmt.MSC” in the dialog box.
  3. In order to uninstall the video card driver, right-click on the video card, click Uninstall Device, and click the arrow next to the Display Adapter section.
  4. Wait for the removal process to complete, and confirm any dialog boxes or prompts asking you to confirm the removal.
  5. Follow the instructions on the website of the manufacturer of your video card to download the driver.
  6. The most recent driver should be tried first after finding your card and operating system.
  7. You may need to reboot your computer several times while the installation is underway.
  8. After starting Mass Effect Andromeda, check for DirectX error messages.

Changing the paging file size

Swap files or virtual memory are uses for extending the RAM of your computer. When they are full, they are used as RAM.

Could you tell me how to fix this issue? I’ve been trying for several hours to get this game to work. I keep getting an error message when I create characters (just bought the game). I tried endless reading and trying every solution I could think of, but nothing helped. I have the latest drivers, DX, and VC++ installed, and my GTX 760 is more than capable. I’m asking for some way to guarantee that I can play the game for which I have paid…

As a BioWare fan, I am really into Mass Effect and Dragon Age. I’ve got both series and I love them both. The reason I bought MEA was out of respect and support for the Mass Effect series, and I had no idea how deeply EA had dipped its fingers into BioWare and profit-driven… My problem was caused by the Frostbite 3 engine, which didn’t appear until the 1.10 patch was released…

It was discovered that Team Viewer uses DirectX for its own purposes and works in the background. This resulted in Mass Effect Andromeda not working, which was caused by a conflict with the game. Team Viewer and similar applications won’t close until you’ve finished the task.

You may also experience the Andromeda DirectX Error if your video card driver is unsupported. To fix this, go to the official website and update your graphics card driver.

It might not work with all games, but it can certainly make Mass Effect crash if you use the hard drive.

  1. In File Explorer or on the desktop, right-click the “This Computer” entry and select “Properties.”
  2. On the right side of the window, click “Advanced System Settings” and click “Advanced”.
  3. Select “Performance” from the drop-down menu and click “Advanced”.
  4. You can change virtual memory by clicking “Change” under “Virtual memory”.
  5. Choose the partition or drive where virtual memory should be stored if Automatically manage swap file size is checked.
  6. Select the drive you want to buy, click “Custom size,” and enter the size of the drive to start with and the maximum size to end with.
  7. Boost your RAM allocation by 1.5 times to fix this problem.
  8. If you want to avoid significant changes, make sure the start size and maximum size are both the same.
  9. After launching Mass Effect Andromeda, check for DirectX errors!

Stop third-party applications

In the event none of the above methods work, it might be necessary to check your computer for third-party programs that are running in the background that are not being used. These third-party programs put stress on your computer and can cause conflicts that might cause the error at hand.

In the background, Team Viewer was using DirectX for its own purposes, one of the bugs we encountered.

There was a conflict between Team Viewer and Andromeda, so Mass Effect Andromeda stopped working. One of the problems with Team Viewer, and similar application, is that they don’t shut down automatically until you quit them.

  1. To open the Task Manager dialog box, press Windows + R and then enter “Taskmgr”.
  2. Select “End Task” from the Task Manager menu to end any background applications.
  3. The problem may be resolved if you restart your computer.
