What Causes Minecraft to be Unresponsive on Windows 10
Minecraft Wont Install
It would seem that updating your Windows is the best solution to the Minecraft Windows 10 Won’t Install issue. The game requires the latest firmware, so if you are on a build version earlier than 1909 then the issue will occur.
Several user reports led us to study the problem, and after experimenting on our own computers, creating the same conditions, we determined that the game stops responding for a variety of reasons. Depending on the cause of the failure, the game can stop working for several minutes, and even for an infinity period.
Enter Java in the dialogue box by pressing Windows Key + S on your computer.
Outdated Java: Minecraft uses the Java platform for its mechanisms to function and work properly. If the Java platform is outdated or improperly installed on your computer, you may experience response issues.
While Mojang used to release flashy new content on the Java Edition of Minecraft, that’s since changed as updates will be released simultaneously on both versions. If you’re looking for the latest and greatest update, the launcher’s snapshot feature works in the same vein on Java, while ‘Experimental Gameplay’ works similarly on Windows 10. It’s impossible not to try either version if you want to play the newest additions.
Outdated Windows: Windows is the primary operating system on which Minecraft runs. If the operating system is outdated or has problems, your Minecraft will most likely not be able to start and respond.
Incomplete/Damaged Minecraft installation: There are times when Minecraft installation is corrupt or incomplete. This can happen if the version has not been updated properly or if you have manually moved the game to a different directory.
Windows 10 usually starts with the command prompt and displays the conhost.exe process. It is a full-form of the Console program. Once the Image has been displayed, click on the OK button to exit the property window. Terraria keeps crashing on Windows. Fix Minecraft.
Outdated Minecraft: Minecraft releases updates from time to time to introduce new features and fix bugs and flaws. If you have an older version, then Minecraft may not start and stop responding.
Mods: If you are using Minecraft with mods, it is recommended that you disable them and restart the game. Mods change the behavior of the game by improving textures.
Video Drivers: Video drivers are another known cause of the problem. If the video drivers are outdated or incomplete, the game will not start or respond.
Administrator privileges: In some rare cases, the game requires administrator privileges to run. If the game does not have advanced access, problems such as those described here will occur.
You must be logged in as an administrator before you can move on to solutions. Also, ensure your Minecraft backups are cloud-based before moving on to solutions.
How to Troubleshoot the Problem of Minecraft Not Responding on Windows 10
Something Went Wrong In The Login Process Minecraft
Java Minecraft launcher installed on Windows 10. When logging in with a Microsoft account, the game gives me an error message.
My goal is at least 40 FPS, but not 120+, since I’m playing Minecraft Java edition.
Disable Discord Overlay
You need to disable Discord overlay or close Discord completely if you are having difficulties with Minecraft being unresponsive due to Discord overlay.
- Go to Discord’s settings page by clicking the arrow in the top right corner.
- The Overlay tab should be selected. Check the box next to Enable in-game overlay and uncheck it.
- Your Minecraft should be restarted.
Update your device drivers
If Minecraft isn’t working, it may be due to outdated or corrupt device drivers, especially the graphics card driver. The graphics driver is what allows your computer to display the game correctly.
You may also need to update the sound card or network card drivers to get Minecraft to work again, an issue that may result from an outdated graphics driver.
Driver updates can take a long time when you do them manually through Device Manager or from the manufacturer’s web site, so you could update them all automatically instead.
Updating the graphics driver manually: Make sure that you are using the latest version of Windows. However, for stability reasons, Windows Update will not be able to find the latest graphics driver for you. Therefore, you need to find the correct and latest graphics driver on the manufacturer’s official website and install it manually.
Update the driver automatically: If you’re not used to working with drivers, you can do it automatically with a third-party driver update program. It will automatically detect your system and find the right driver for your computer. More importantly, with a third-party driver updater, you won’t have to manipulate your operating system and worry about errors during installation. This will save you a lot of time and patience.

- Choose Properties from the right-click menu when you are viewing an executable.
- The Run this program as administrator checkbox can be found on the Compatibility tab.
