What is the cause of the “Requested operation requires higher-level authorization” problem?

  • An authorization problem is among the most common causes of this error code.
  • You may also be experiencing this error on Windows 10 if you’ve previously configured User Account Control to its most strict setting.
  • In Windows Pro, a local group policy may also enforce this security policy, which forces administrator accounts to run with administrator permissions.
  • A false positive that tricks your antivirus system into believing the system is under attack may also cause this error if you are using an overly secure AV package.
