Why Won’t Steam Let Me Add Friends
If this is the case, why can’t I add friends to Steam? There are several reasons why this might be the case, including whether the user you want to add has been blocked by your account, your friend list has reached the maximum number, your account has been limited and you haven’t purchased any game content, or whether the friend system has failed.

Hello everyone, I was just trying to add a friend today and I found out that I could’nt because Steam thinks that making us not having the ability to send friend requests *protect* people’s privacy. Well to me, friend requests don’t actually harm a person’s privacy, its the persons choice to accept so its their fault and they should take responsibilty. So from my perspective all this not being able to add friends just looks like Steam is just trying to get more money (no offence) by limiting free users even more and nearly forcing you to buy a game.
My friend and I are trying to add one another on steam. Every time we try to add one another, steam says, “Error adding friend, please try again”. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve also tried blocking and unblocking but it still doesn’t work.
