A Windows update error code 0x80070002 occurs when you don’t have the necessary update files. This error may also occur when the Windows Update service is not functioning.

Code 8000FFFF + Code 3715 is in my Windows Update.  I have 36 updates which will not be installed.  Mr. FixIt did without touching!  I did research for months for a solution to the Code 8000FFFF, just to finally get 3 or 4 new files update.  They settled, but then the second error, Code 3715 appeared.  I have a Compaq PCSR5501P Tower, 3 GB of RAM and 4 GB ReadyBoost (at recommended setting) with Windows 32 bit Vista Home Basic SP2 and ESET Smart Security 5.  Also, I have a Seagate 2 TB external drive.  It was not connected during this period for months, then Windows Defender found a registry error about this.  I removed it to the Defender.  I consider myself to be a bit smarter than the average bear, but it beats me.  I know it’s 9 out of 10 times it simple!

In contrast to other operating systems, like Mac OS, most software was designed for Windows. Unfortunately, Windows does not always function as intended and often causes users problems.

Trying to update Windows can be difficult. It can appear like a bet each time one occurs. It’s not about giving errors, but rather about whether to update Windows.

What is the cause of Windows Update error code 8020002E?

What is the cause of Windows Update error code 8020002E?

Windows Update Instance in Trouble: The most common cause that causes this error code is one or more components of the processing unit are blocked in a suspended state. In such situations, it is best to run Windows Update Troubleshooter (a utility that can detect most inconsistencies and automatically apply the correct correction strategy).

Damaged WU component: In the most severe cases, this error code can be caused by a persistent WU error that cannot be resolved by traditional methods. If some components are stuck in a suspended state, the only viable solution is to reset each WU component to eliminate the possibility of a paralyzed component. This can be done either with an automated WU agent or with a series of commands in the extended CMD prompt.

Overly Secure AV Suite: It turns out that some firewall suites can block the connection between the end-user computer and the WU server. The Comodo firewall is most often cited by affected users as responsible (but there may be others). In this case, you can solve the problem by removing the redundant protection package and going back to the native firewall.

Damaged system files: As reported by several affected users, this problem may also be due to some underlying corruption that cannot be resolved in the traditional way. In this particular case, the only viable recovery strategy is to use DISM or System File Checker Scan, which is capable of handling corrupted system files. But in some rare cases, you may need to reboot all operating system components (via clean install or repair shop) to fix the error.
