I think this is a workaround rather than a solution. Simply terminating the process from the Task Manager should solve the problem. The process should no longer consume any resources once terminated.

Several metro apps running can be another possible cause of wwahost.exe using a high amount of CPU. In order for metro apps to work, wwahost.exe must be used. You may find that wwahost.exe connects to the internet on its own. This is also for metro apps. You’ll usually see wwahost.exe popping up in the Task Manager when you didn’t expect it.

Stop WWAHost.exe process

  1. Select Task Manager from the Start menu by right-clicking your Windows icon on your desktop.
  2. Using the pop-up window, scroll down to the WWAHost.exe process, then right-click to end it.

Reinstall the Mail application and clear the cache
