Fix corrupted user profiles

The Windows 10 user profile can be fixed in a variety of ways, some of which even involve editing system registry entries.

Replace a corrupted user profile with a good one

  1. Make sure that you are logged on as an administrator in Windows 10
  2. Your C drive should contain a Users folder:
  3. Ensure that Hidden Files and Folders are displayed from the View tab.
  4. You can rename the folder Default. old by finding the folder Default.
  5. Note: Do not delete this folder, as it will be used as a backup in case of problems.

  7. Default.old should have exact duplicate subfolders in the new folder.
  8. To create a new default folder, copy and paste the NTUSER.DAT file from the administrator account.
