In order to fix some VT-X is not available errors in VirtualBox due to Windows updates, go back to the same location and disable all Hyper-V functions before restarting.

Enable VT-X in the BIOS settings

  1. Select Update and Security by pressing Windows + I.
  2. Under Advanced Startup, click Restart Now on the Recovery tab.
  3. A Windows recovery environment will appear after Windows has restarted.
  4. You can find Advanced Settings under Troubleshooting in the pop-up window.
  5. UEFI Firmware Settings can be accessed from Advanced Windows Settings.
  6. Select System Security from the Security tab in the BIOS.
  7. Turn on virtualization and VTX/VTD technology, if not already enabled.

Uninstalling third-party antivirus software

  1. Windows Settings can be accessed by pressing Windows + I.
  2. Tap “Applications” in Settings.
  3. Find your antivirus program in the list of installed applications and select it.
  4. Then click Uninstall.
  5. Upon clicking Yes, your actions will be confirmed in a window.
  6. Make sure your computer is restarted after removing the antivirus program.

Disable kernel isolation in Windows Defender

  1. The first step is to search for Windows Defender in the Windows search box.
  2. The search results will list Windows Defender Security Center. Select it.
  3. Click the Device Security tab in Windows Defender Security Center.
  4. Under Kernel Isolation, click Details.
  5. When you have finished disabling the Memory Integrity option, you can move on.
  6. Your computer should be rebooted last.
