I’m trying to make a windows style image viewer that can display multiple images at once in an icon or thumbnail format (like when you do View > Layout > Large Icons on windows) in tkinter. However, the folder I want to open contains a couple of hundred images and it’s way to slow to load them all and will probably use too much memory anyway. Therefore I’m trying to lazy load images based on if they are visible (i.e: if the user has scrolled down enough to see it). Here’s what I have so far:

There is no problem with the code on IE despite clearing my cache. There was also no problem with the lazy frame loading in Chromium.

- Click on the Microsoft Edge icon.
- To enable lazy frame loading, type edge://flags/#enable-lazy-frame-load in the address bar.
- Lazy frame load bar can now be enabled by selecting Enabled under the drop-down menu.
- Click Restart.
- (See note below) Edge will now load frames with the load=”lazy” attribute on demand.
- Instead, you can set the indicator to Enabled (Automatically lazy load where safe…) so that Edge on demand will load frames that do not contain the load=”lazy” attribute.
It’s done. The browser first renders the content that the user sees, and then renders non-visible images and frames.
Note: The load=lazy option is a new HTML attribute that was recently added to the HTML standard as a draft. In the future, all major web browsers should support loading lazy elements.
