Here's how to fix a broken Windows 8 Mail app

Install the latest updates

  1. You can find this at the bottom right of the screen by moving your mouse cursor there.
  2. The Settings menu will appear when you left-click.
  3. Click on “Settings” and select “Change PC settings”.
  4. Locate and click on the option Refresh and Restore in the next window.
  5. You can now left-click or click on the Check Now button.
  6. Upon completion of the check, you will be asked to install the updates.
  7. You can install all available updates by left-clicking or clicking Install Updates.

  5. You can run the command line scan now by typing sfc /scannow in the command prompt window.
  6. Your keyboard should now be set to Enter.
  7. Ensure that the system file scanner has completed its task.
  8. Exit is the command you should enter after the scan is complete.
  9. Your keyboard should now be set to Enter.
  10. Your computer needs to be restarted.
  11. If your email application does not work properly, check it again.
