To solve the "System is asking you to log in with a valid account" - MS Office error 0xD000000C

Remove all data licenses from KeyChain Access

Activating a new Microsoft Office installation will result in this error message if KeyChain Access already contains the entry “Office”, as all passwords are stored in KeyChain Access. To do this, open Spotlight and search for “Keychain Access.” After typing, open the corresponding result. Therefore, you need to remove all Microsoft Office entries from KeyChain Access.

You will need to right-click the item you want to delete if you get one associated with the search term “office.”.

Deleting items from the library folder

Similarly to Windows application files, the library folder on a Mac will have the license removed if you delete certain files. Then you can get an activation window if you open the library folder. Using the “Go” button on your desktop will allow you to select folders from the top navigation bar. If you are unfamiliar with the process, click on it. Once you get a list of folders, press the Option key to select the Library folder.

This error occurs when your account is not valid. The error code is 0xD000000C.

A banner will appear across the top of the application window for the Microsoft Office product on the desktop (Word, Excel, etc.). Follow these steps to restore functionality:

There should be four entries entitled Group Containers in the Library folder.

  • UBF8T346G9.ms
  • Office file UBF8T346G9.doc
  • OfficeOneDriveSyncIntegration.UBF8T346G9.
  • OfficeOsfWebHost.UBF8T346G9.

To activate Word or Excel without errors, you must delete these four folders.

Use Microsoft Office License Removal Tool

It will not uninstall any Office products, but you will be able to remove the license instantly if you cannot find anything using KeyChain Access manually.

The Microsoft Office License Removal Tool can be downloaded from their website if you want to do this. Just follow the on-screen instructions.

Switching from a network account to a local account

If you are using a network account on your Mac, you must upgrade to a local account. Otherwise, you cannot activate your Microsoft Office installation. You can log out of your network account and log in to your local account. This is as simple as saying. If you don’t have a local account, you can create one first. To do this, open System Preferences and go to Users and Groups. Now you need to click on the lock icon and enter your password for further changes. You should find a plus sign (+) to click on to create a new user account.

Activation of Office requires you to log out of your network account, log in to your local account, and then fill in the fields with the necessary data.
