How do I fix the "Failed-Forbidden" error when downloading from Google Drive?

TURN ON INCOGNITO MODE

In this situation, Chrome provides the user with the option to switch into incognito mode, allowing the browser to prevent tracking the user’s activity online.

  • New tabs should appear in Chrome once you open it.
  • In order to open the incognito tab, hold down the “Ctrl” key and “Shift” key together.
  • Test downloading the file from Google Drive by logging in and trying again.

RESET YOUR COMPUTER.

Before trying other solutions, restart your computer once whether you are downloading files from Windows or Mac.

Use the correct way to download files

Google Drive allows you to download files in several ways. Let’s explore them.

NOTE: You can’t drag and drop files or folders from Google Drive onto your desktop to download them. However, it is possible when downloading files.

Method 1

In order to download a file from drive.google.com, right-click it once and select “Download.” To download multiple files, select them all first, then right-click one of the selected files and select “Download.”.

Method 2

If you want to download files or folders from Google Drive, select them.
In the upper right corner, click the three-dot icon. Click Download from the menu that appears.

Method 3

Click the download icon at the top right corner of the file if you want to upload just one photo or video.

TIP: If you can’t upload photos using Method 3, click the three-dot icon at the top of the individual photo. Select Open in a new window. When the picture opens in a new window, click on the download icon as you saw in method 3.

Method 4

Hover your mouse over the image in the Google Drive list view and you’ll see a download button. If you’re not logged into your Google account, a download button appears to the right of the file.

You can download a file if you view it in a grid view. Click on the “Download” button on the file to download it.

TROUBLESHOOTING ZIP FILE FILES

Users may run into issues when uploading multiple files using the above methods. When uploading multiple files using the above methods, individual files aren’t uploaded; rather, they’re bundled up and uploaded as a zip file.

“Access to docs.googleusercontent.com was denied” error occurs when you are signed into more than one Google account and trying to download something or access something from a non-primary Google account. If you open the download link in a new tab, the browser will assume you’re accessing the file using your primary Google account, which is why you get the error. It is a legitimate error because your primary google account is indeed not authorized to open another accounts links. You can clean your browsing data and cookies to see if the problem does away.

After seeing the pop-up asking you if you want to leave or cancel, click on “Leave Site”. The download will begin after you click on “Leave Site.”

Google Drive doesn’t allow zip file downloads. Here are some alternatives to try.
You can download multiple files from Google Drive without having them compressed if you don’t want Google Drive to compress them.

ALLOWS COOKIES

In Chrome, click on the little lock on the left side of the address bar. Select cookies from the list and you’ll be able to download files. To enable cookies, open drive.google.com and click on the little lock.

After clicking Locked, check for the Google link at the bottom of the pop-up window. Click it and click “Allow”. Click Done. The files will download again after you restart your browser.

CHANGE YOUR Google ACCOUNT

You must sign up with the same account you use to access the files you wish to upload. There are two main ways to share files on Google Drive.
Any Google account can view or download a file or folder if it belongs to the owner of the link.

Chrome Download Failed Disk Full

Due to its built-in Adobe Flash player, Chrome consumes a lot disk space as it relies less on the operating system’s outdated Flash player.

Multiple users logged into the browser at the time of initiating a download sometimes cause Google Drive to stop working. Before you try to download the file from Google Drive, you should log out of all other accounts on your computer. To do so, follow these steps:

You can, however, restrict access to the files to multiple users whose email address is the only one allowed to access them. You will receive errors like “Forbidden”, “Unavailable” if you do not have access to these files if you are not logged in with that email address. This means you have to change your Google account.

If the owner of a file or folder creates a link to that file, anyone with that link can access it.

The default account for Google Chrome sync is used for all sign-ins, regardless of what Google accounts you sign in with.
You need to switch to the account of the Google Drive link you received.

Then, open drive.google.com and log in with your default Google account. Click the profile icon at the top right of your Drive screen to access your Google accounts. After logging in to your second Google account, a new window will open. Click on the one you want to change.

Repeat the steps to change your Google Drive account if you close the window and reopen the site.

ALL GOOGLE ACCOUNTS REMOVED

Then, try downloading files with just one account saved in Chrome if you can’t download files from Google Drive by switching accounts.

CHECK AD-BLOCKS AND ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE

You may have an ad blocker extension running in your browser. Disable it, and the problem should be fixed.

You may also want to temporarily disable your antivirus program. Additionally, you might want to check if you can download files from Google Drive if you use one.

CHANGELOG SERVERS.

A different browser can sometimes cause the problem. To solve the problem, update your browser first.
A different browser may solve the problem if that doesn’t work.

OPEN IN INCOGNITO MODE.

If you are unable to download Google Drive files in any other way, you can use this method as an alternative. You simply need to copy and paste a link from someone into your browser’s incognito mode if they send you a link from Google Drive. If the sharing permissions are set to “Anyone with a link can see the file,” you should be able to download the files.

You can also use Chrome’s guest mode to open Incognito mode. The first thing you need to do is click the three dots in the top right corner of your browser. Select “New Incognito” and paste the URL in the new window.

Uploading files to Google Drive using the same method is as easy as right-clicking the file and selecting Share.

Those who haven’t chosen a link under Get Link can edit it. Once the link has been modified, copy and paste it into Incognito windows, and upload the files.
