Your Adobe Typekit fonts not showing up in Illustrator, Photoshop, or any other Adobe application is most likely due to one of two reasons: 1.) you don’t have the Adobe Creative Cloud application running in the background, or 2.) the Creative Cloud application is running, but your preferences are not set to sync Typekit fonts with your installed applications. Let’s explore.Just an FYI, you may think you need to restart whatever application you’re using (whether it be Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.) in order for this to work, but you don’t. You can safely keep your applications running the entire time.

Using Windows 11, you can install font faces in a number of ways. In addition to downloading all fonts that are available for every supported language (this could take up a lot of space), the system also includes the option of double-clicking the file from the context menu or from the Microsoft Store or external sources.

When you copy a font and paste it into the Windows Fonts folder and try to install it on your PC, the font does not appear in the Fonts folder and a message says that it is already installed. Would you like it replaced?

There seem to be a few fonts that are preferred for those items in the left column:

It is necessary to restart certain applications to make use of new fonts, such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.

Font Installed

Using the File Explorer, you can select Extract All (the top option on the menu) to extract the zip file to your desktop or somewhere you can access it easily.

Restart the app

Apps detect new fonts automatically. If you do not see the font you just installed, close the app and reopen it. You will see the font you just installed there.

Checking other applications

Check if a font is installed correctly by using an application other than the one in which you intend to use it.

  1. The list of applications can be found under the Start menu.
  2. The Windows Accessories folder will be expanded.
  3. Open WordPad.
  4. If the newly installed font doesn’t appear in the font selection tool, open the font selection tool.
  5. You may have to try another font if the font listed does not work in the application you’re using. Check the application’s font specifications.

Font installation

It’s easy to install fonts, but if something goes wrong during installation, you can easily reinstall it by removing it and reinstalling it again.

  1. The following folder can be found in File Explorer.
    WindowsFonts is located in C:.
  2. In the above folder, paste the font file.
  3. In that case, replace the file if prompted.
  4. The font can also be deleted and then copied back into the above folder.

Checking the type of font

OpenType, TrueType, and Web Open Font Format are three of the most popular font formats.

A font that isn’t supported, or one which has been converted to one of the supported types, will not be recognized by Windows 10.

Windows/fonts

If you are using Windows 10 or 11, you may want to use the Fonts tool in Settings. The Fonts tool will display all of your fonts already displayed in preview mode in Settings.

Reproduce the problem by installing a font in a newer build of Windows 10 and printing each font’s font.getName() and font.getLocalName() from the GraphicsEnvironment. Note that getLocalName() returns “Dialog.plain”, which indicates that Java did not load the font for the font just installed, which means that any text drawn using that font will use the Dialog.plain font instead of the actual font.

If you want to know what type of font the file has, you should check its extension.

  • A font that is OpenType.
  • The TTF format is a font format for TrueType
  • A format for open web fonts called WOFF

With Windows 10, you can use all Google fonts.

Try a different font

The last thing you can do is install a new, different font, and see if it appears in the application. If it does appear, this indicates the problem lies with the font you installed.

How To Install A Font On Windows 10

In the Settings app, click on the Fonts option and drag and drop the font file that you want to install. Within seconds, the font will be installed.

By moving the font file to another location, some users reported that the installed fonts weren’t showing up in Word Windows 10. You can accomplish this by copying the font file and pasting it into a new folder. Right-click the font and select Install for all users after it has been moved to another folder.

Pre-1703 Windows 10 versions are compatible with fonts, as already mentioned.

Refresh the System Fonts folder once you have deleted the affected Font File Names.
